August 12, 2026 · 16:25

Ed Parcaut and Mike Kelly cover CPI inflation, mortgage applications, California affordability, low inventory, Stanislaus County real estate activity, oil risk, and VA loan co-borrower rules. CPI came in line with expectations, mortgage pricing improved by about 11 basis points, and mortgage applications rose 3.6%. Purchase applications were up 3% for the week, while refinances increased 5%. Ed and Mike also discuss California's low inventory, statewide affordability pressure, local listings and closings, VA loan rules for non-veteran co-borrowers, and why home prices remain supported even when buyers feel stretched.
