WHAT WE COLLECT AND WHY
Real Estate Jerky is a radio show and a local events website for Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. We only ask for details when you choose to hand them over, and we only use them for the thing you handed them over for.
The Weekly Community Roundup
If you sign up we store your email address, your first name if you gave one, the counties you picked, where on the site you signed up, the date you signed up and the exact wording you agreed to, which is this:
Yes, email me the Weekly Community Roundup from Real Estate Jerky: local events and one home tip, once a week. No other mail, and I can unsubscribe from any issue.
We use it to send you that one weekly email and nothing else. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works straight away. Once you unsubscribe we keep your address on a do-not-mail record so a later signup cannot quietly put you back on the list. We do not sell, rent or share the list.
Submitting an event
Event details you submit are meant to be public, and clear submissions publish on Community Corner. Your own name, email and phone are kept separately and are never shown on the site. We use them only to come back to you if something about the listing needs checking.
Reporting a correction
If you tell us a listing is wrong, cancelled or moved, we store your note and, if you gave one, your email so we can reply. Notes are read by our staff, not published.
Applying to sponsor
A sponsor application stores the business name, your name, email, phone, website, the counties and service area you serve, the dates you are interested in and anything you typed in the message. It goes to our inbox and stays in our staff area so we can follow up. It is business contact information for a business conversation, and it goes no further.
Nominating a business
A nomination stores the business you named, why you named it and your own name and email if you gave them, so we can ask a follow-up question. Nothing about you appears on the site.
Other services on our pages
- The booking calendar for recording sessions is run by GoHighLevel. What you type into it goes to them and to us, under their terms.
- The featured video player is YouTube, and episode audio is hosted by Libsyn. Loading them means your browser talks to those companies, and they may set their own cookies.
- Sponsor links count a click so we can tell a sponsor their spot is working. We record the placement and the time, not who clicked.
- The audio player remembers the episode and position on your own device so you can pick up where you left off. That stays in your browser and never reaches us. Clearing your browser data clears it.
Getting your details removed
Email radio@realestatejerky.com and tell us what you want removed. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do it and confirm back to you. You do not need a reason and there is no charge.
California residents: we do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. The same email address handles any request.

How long we keep things
We keep records only as long as we need them, then delete them.
- Roundup signups: while you are on the list, then 12 months after you unsubscribe so we can show what you agreed to if a question comes up, then deleted.
- Event submissions and correction reports: the published listing stays as a public record of what was on, but the submitter name, email and phone are deleted 12 months after the event date.
- Sponsor applications: 24 months from our last contact if we did not work together. For businesses we did work with, billing and contract records are kept 7 years because tax rules require it.
- Business nominations: 12 months after we have dealt with them.
You can ask us to delete anything sooner. Email radio@realestatejerky.com and we will do it and confirm back.
